Anshar was the creator of Anu and often associated with heaven and the sky as a whole. When Ea learned early about Tiamat's coming war, Anshar tried to persuade him into attacking her early. This was not successful, however, Marduk stepped forward and promised to defeat Tiamat and bring her body to Anshar. Marduk was raised to near princely levels for this by Anshar.
