Babylonian Mythology: Gods and Goddesses: Ea
[ Anshar ] [ Antu ] [ Anu ] [ Apsu ] [ Ea ] [ Enlil ] [ Ishtar ] [ Kishar ] [ Mammu ] [ Marduk ] [ Sin ] [ Tiamat ]
Ea was the god of wisdom, waters, crafts, writing, building, farming, magic, and men's work. He ruled over Apsu, the great water. He was known as the "Lord of Wisdom" and "Lord of Incantations"; whatever Ea spoke, became reality. Ea learned that Tiamat was planning a war of revenge against the gods. His father Anshar tried to spur him into making the first attack against Tiamat, but Ea rebuffed him. When Anu's peace mission failed, he urgeed Marduk into action.
